Benefits: * Dental insurance * Free uniforms * Health insurance * Paid time off * Vision insurance Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner General Job Description: The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for promoting the health and safety of their patients by providing quality medical care through addressing the behavioral health needs with proactive treatment and diagnoses. Their duties include conducting psychiatric evaluations, prescribing and managing psychotropic medications. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will coordinate with other behavioral health and primary medical providers and support care management within the Patient Center Medical Home (PCMH) integrated model. The Nurse Practitioner will be certified (waivered) in the treatment of drug addiction and will assess and assist with staff development related to behavioral health and addiction treatment. The primary function of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is to diagnose, prescribe medication, monitor medication side effects, and participate in the treatment and therapeutic treatment process. . This position will be supervised externally by a psychiatrist with whom there is a Collaborative Practice Agreement established upon hire. Liability insurance and collaborating physician costs are both paid for by TMFC. Services will initially be office-based, with the opportunity to grow telehealth services in the future to serve clients at remote locations. The PNP will work in collaboration with a Case Manager, and Medical Assistant to coordinate client care, assist with insurance pre-authorization, and caseload management. Qualifications: EDUCATION Job Requirements and Qualifications: Minimum Required Education * Master of Science in Nursing, with a Psychiatric/Mental Health emphasis (preferred), from an accredited college or university. * Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Minimum Required Experience: * At least 1-2 years providing direct client care to people receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders. * Ability to work with both adult and youth/child populations. Preferred Experience: * 3+ years of experience as a psychiatric provider * Experience in telemedicine CERTIFICATE/LICENSE * Georgia State Registered Advance Nurse Practitioner License * Licensed as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) is preferred. * ANA certification * CPR/BLS EXPERIENCE * Minimum of two years of experience in the above-described duties, preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES * Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice, and medical care to give and evaluate patient care. * Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments. * Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. * Ability to assess medical conditions and interpret findings. * Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. * Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. * Ability to communicate clearly with staff and patients. * Ability to make patients comfortable and feel welcome. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (included by not limited to) * Must be certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH) as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) * An unrestricted license to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the state of Georgia. * Must have a valid DEA number and unrestricted DEA license in Georgia. * A state-issued Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) in Georgia * Registration with the state Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) in Georgia * No suspension/exclusion/debarment from participation in federal health care programs (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP) * Maintain credentials and licensure with all major insurance companies and licensing boards with the assistance of GPCA credentialing staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Uses current evidence-based practice, research, and clinical knowledge to improve patient outcomes and reduce complications. * Conducts mental health histories and assessments. * Formulates behavioral health treatment plan and manages acute and chronic mental health needs within Primary Care Mental Health model of care. * Provide treatment to clients with drug/opioid addiction. * Provide assessment and medication consultation for primary care and behavioral health providers for patients with complex behavioral health, developmental, or substance disorders. * Orders laboratory and other diagnostic tests and evaluates data obtained. LCH 2 Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner 1 15 19 * Support the stabilization of patients discharged from mental health hospitalization back into primary care for follow-up and ongoing management. * Consult with medical providers on alternative or appropriate therapeutic drug regimens and other treatment strategies. * Attending the required clinical meetings and conducting training courses based on staff needs. * Document in accordance with all regulatory requirements made by licensing and third-party agencies. * Completes other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor that are consistent with the responsibilities of the position. * Responsible for providing psychiatric services to clients in a variety of clinical settings during scheduled hours. * Scope of services includes outpatient psychiatric evaluations and medication management services. * Assess, diagnose, and treat adults, adolescents experiencing symptoms of behavioral health disorders. * Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue drugs and treatments to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders in accordance with the Collaborative Practice Agreement and the state's Nurse Practice Act. * Collaborate with counselors, social workers, or other treatment team members to coordinate client care. * Responsible for timely and accurate completion of medical records, including assessment, treatment plan, progress notes, outcome measures, and billing entries. • Counsel clients during appointments, as necessary. * Design/participate in the development of individualized treatment plans, incorporating best and leading practices into treatment interventions. * Examine or order laboratory or diagnostic tests for clients to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorders. * Collaborate with guardians, relatives, and significant others on client's conditions and treatment when clinically appropriate. * Prepare and submit assessments, progress notes, reports, and summaries to entities/agencies (funders, insurance companies, etc.) as required. * Return calls and emails promptly (within 24 hours of receipt or sooner if clinically necessary) Respond to client emergencies and be accessible to TMFC's after-hours calls. * Responsible for making independent decisions based on protocols developed utilizing national guidelines for treatment interventions. * Responsible for maintaining customer relations with all TMFC's staff and clients. * Maintain medical records and submit at least 10% of records to the supervising Psychiatrist for biweekly review in accordance with the Collaborative Practice Agreement. * Records all services performed for accurate billing for services provided in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, as well as payor rules and regulations. * Submit billing documents in a timely fashion. * Looks for ways to improve and promote quality. Provides teaching and education to clinical staff, if requested. * Follow all procedures and protocols as per TMFC's policy, federal and state regulations, standard practice, and in accordance with the Collaborative Practice Agreement. * Actively participate in all agencies and department education, training, and in-services to confirm understanding of new information or changes to established clinical policies and procedures. Physical Demands: * Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination. * It requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds. * Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. May require working under occasional stressful conditions and/or irregular hours.
