ITT is headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut with over 10,000 employees in more than 35 countries and sales in approximately 125 countries.Position SummaryITT Engineered Valves is searching for a Buyer to join their team in Amory, MS. The Buyer will purchase goods and services as assigned by the Purchasing Manager within the guidelines set forth in ITT Industries Corporate Purchasing Policies. The Buyer will also settle all disputes with our suppliers arising after a purchase order has been awarded. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of purchasing experience in a similar industry.Essential Responsibilities Purchases goods and services as assigned optimizing their total cost (quality, delivery, and price). Develop and maintain an adequate number of competitive suppliers necessary to support unit requirements. Monitors quality and delivery performance of suppliers constantly seeking improvement and replaces those suppliers who fail to meet our standards. Expedites delivery of goods and services purchased. Ensures that the business is paying "fair market" prices through the competitive bidding process. Maintains an inventory listing of all tooling located at supplier's facility. Manage purchase orders, oversee shipping/delivery schedules, and maintain purchase records. Perform vendor research and selection to enhance profitability, reduce operating costs and boost efficiency Conduct ongoing market research to identify beneficial purchase agreements and potential vendors. Maintain working relationships with vendors and supervise vendor activities. Enter purchase orders and updates into SAP (ERP System). Order safety, MRO and VMI supplies Communicate and negotiate with vendors and sales personnel. Meet in person with vendors if needed. Meet with manager at regular intervals to discuss order detail and priorities. Attend regular meetings and communicate issues and recovery plans. Generate and interpret reports to order goods. Follow all safety and environmental guidelines in the plant including 5S. Participate on special assignments at plant and/or corporate level. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree plus 3-5 years of experience OR equivalent education and experience is required. Strong negotiating skills; Negotiation skills to work with suppliers and make better deals for the company. Good attention to detail to ensure all purchase orders are accurate. Ability to work with a team and strong interpersonal skills to work with variety of team members and suppliers. Ability to work under pressure. ERP/MRP experience is required; SAP experience is preferred. Experience working with international suppliers is a plus Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and employees. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Other duties as assigned COMMENTS May require occasional travel international and domestic to inspect and meet with suppliers. Where applicable, pursues additional education and training through company sponsored programs. The salary offered to a candidate is based several factors such as candidate experience and qualifications, location, as well as market and business considerations.Equal Pay Act RangeAnnual salary range is $58,000.00 to $87,000.00, plus incentive plans and benefits
