Network and Security Engineer / Administrator

Job Description

Ideal candidate:

Would have advanced/expert level knowledge about networking, firewall settings, and other security access issues under Windows 10/11 (Linux is a nice to have).

Willing to travel to at least one, possibly two, customer sites (possibly USA and Taiwan).

Good verbal and written skills to understand our design and customers IT requirements and come up with optimal networking architecture/configuration.

Goal:

For security reasons, more and more of our customers would like to limit or list the Ethernet Ports used by our OEM tools (they have one or more PCs inside). Moreover, we may even have to limit the ports we use to certain ranges. We need help on how to optimize the configuration of these OEM systems to be able to run them with the Windows 10/11 firewall turned ON to make the customers IT departments happy because we are in compliance. This while still being able to have our operators continue using all the features (including diagnostics) of our OEM tools. Most of our OEM tools use a private switch for mission-critical HW/SW operations but also need to connect to a corporate intranet to access some of the customers data like inspection defect files.

Responsibilities:

Work with us to understand the networking architecture of one of our systems in FL which is currently running with firewall OFF and:

- Travel to a customer site and gather information on why a similar system there cannot connect to their network. Possibly succeed in connecting it to their network or come back with some requirements.

- Help us understand what changes we would need to make to run the OEM tool with Windows firewall on.

- Help us understand how to identify and specify the Ethernet ports we use so they can be remapped to certain ranges that a customer may indicate.
