Staff Development Coordinator, RN

1. Must be currently licensed as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
2. Must have a bachelor's degree, associate degree or diploma in nursing, health education, or a background related to the healthcare field either through course work or experience.
3. Prefer a minimum of 2 years experience in a long-term care facility.
*Major Duties and Responsibilities*
1. Provide leadership in the development of training and educational activities and/or services in response to needs identified by management and the community.
2. Implement recommendations from the Quality Assessment and Assurance committee as they relate to educational needs of the facility.
3. Incorporate commercially produced instruction material and training aids into existing inservice programs as necessary.
4. Develop and publish the schedule for educational and on-the-job training programs.
5. Develop, direct, and schedule refresher training for assigned staff as necessary.
6. Prepare written reports for administration as required.
7. Serve on various committees within the facility and the community.
8. Maintain current information on all aspects of federal and state policies as well as best practices on continuing education and informs administration of new developments.
9. Secure, develop and maintain records, reports, instructional manuals, reference material pertinent to TB inservice programs.
10. Assists with providing personnel with training and information governing established policies and procedures concerning exposure to blood/body fluids and hazard communication.
11. Provides general orientation for new employees.
12. Helps orient newly assigned staff and evaluates performance of procedures.
13. Conducts orientation for certified nursing assistants and/or nurses; including performing classroom instruction, placing staff for clinical orientation, monitoring progress, notifying Scheduling Coordinator when they will end their orientation.
14. Provide preceptors with procedure/skills checklist forms to complete for each new staff person.
15. Encourage all staff to try new techniques, equipment, and material by developing on-unit training using inside/outside professional material as necessary.
16. Provide annual inservice training to all staff concerning all annually mandatory subjects, such as Hazard Communication, Universal Precautions, and others required by federal and state regulations.
17. Develop and administer self-directed inservices as needs/interests are identified by staff.
18. Provide continuous skills refresher inservices for CNAs and nurses.
19. Provide inservices through Staff Development and other departments as identified by department heads, supervisors and staff.
20. Ensure documentation of employee inservices and skill reviews.
21. Assist in mandatory skill review inservices for CNAs and Nurses.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
