**Position:** _Veterinary Assistant with our ICU Department._
**Work Schedule:** Full Time; 3-12's, Days w/possible nights. Weekend and holiday availability required.
**Pay Range VAI:** $19.35 - $26.55/hour
*This pay band is dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.
**Competitive Shift Differentials:** Earn more with our shift differentials
+ Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6p to 8a): $3.50
+ Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8a to 6p): $3.50
+ Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6p to 8a): $5.00
**As a Veterinary Assistant, you will:**
+ Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
+ Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
+ Understand classification ofcommonly usedmedications, associated sideeffectsand appropriatelymonitorstherapeutic response.
+ Administer medications viaappropriate routesand duration.
+ Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratoryrateand effort.
+ Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment andassistwith patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
+ Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines anddemonstratesproficiencyin designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
