Tax Director

POSITION SUMMARY

The Tax Director is responsible for all domestic and international income tax matters, sales/use tax and property tax related matters and has ultimate accountability for the income and operating tax functions This position is responsible for developing, communicating, and implementing the strategic direction of the tax function by anticipating future needs, opportunities, competitive threats, and planning accordingly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

May perform any or all of the following duties:

* Responsible for all compliance, income, sales/use tax, and property tax. The company files 100+ domestic income tax returns annually, along with estimated tax payments throughout the year. Sales/use tax returns are filed monthly in most states. Property tax renditions for business personal property are filed annually, escrow reconciliations for impounded property tax payments are performed throughout the year, and tax bills are processed for both company-owned and leased properties.* Oversees the annual and quarterly reporting of income taxes, including ASC740 reserves, financial statement disclosures, quarterly/annual account reconciliations for all tax accounts, periodic certification of all tax-related general ledger accounts. Responsible for SOX procedures.* Develop and implement Federal, state/local, and international tax strategies and direct tactical efforts to maximize financial statement tax benefits, increase after tax cash flows, and mitigate tax exposures.* Manages special projects for the department including researching and implementation of tax planning initiatives.* Proactively communicate relevant significant tax matters and actively participate in strategic decision-making with senior management.* Works on special projects and provides consultation for management and other departments as required for tax-related matters.* Provide leadership for the management of compliance functions performed remotely, monitoring processes and controls to minimize risks.* Assist with tax forecasting of cash tax obligations; responsible for departmental budgeting/forecasting.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES

* Bachelor's degree in accounting, master's degree in taxation highly preferred* Licensed Certified Public Accountant,* 9 years of corporate tax experience that includes managing a tax department in a medium or large size company and/or a public accounting firm.* Exceptional knowledge of ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes* Strong knowledge of federal, state and international taxes* Experience with Hyperion Tax Provision software is desirable, or other tax provision software.* Understanding of GAAP accounting principles* Demonstrated financial acumen and ability to translate complex matters to present effectively to the business.* Must have strong leadership skills; outstanding interpersonal relationship-building and employee- coaching skills.* Must have strong analytical and organizational skills; ability to identify and implement process improvement capabilities* Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.* Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
