Shuttle Driver

Crane, United States Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana Full time

This is a full-time Monday - Friday position from 7 AM to 3 PM. The pay is $18 per hour and includes full benefits (below):

The Shuttle Driver works with the AbilityOne contract at Crane Naval Center to plan and execute a variety of activities including: working directly with employees with disabilities, movement of employees between janitorial sites/locations within the Crane location, janitorial tasks, and being flexible to other contract required tasks that may arise. Travel to and from the base to Bloomington may be required when the 3rd party transportation service is unavailable. This role provides excellent customer service while demonstrating exceptional safety in and out of the vehicle.

Example Duties and Activities

  • Assists in directing, coordinating, and controlling activities of workers while performing transportation and janitorial activities.

  • Safely operates an automatic transmission shuttle bus following all rules of the road. Maintains a clean nonsmoking van that operates by Kaizen standards daily.

  • Inspects the vehicle pre- and post-trip. Monitors the maintenance and repair of the vehicle. Assists with or oversees loading and unloading of goods or walkers, and assists passengers with entering or exiting the vehicle.

  • Plans, organizes, and executes the activities of the day. Transport employees according to the schedule of the day and in between trips perform janitorial duties to include but are not limited to: pulling trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming.

  • Monitors pickup and drop-off of employees. Ensures that pickups are completed on time following the daily schedule.

  • Proactively addresses and follows up on all customer service issues and concerns, ensuring effective communication with the Site Supervisor. Keeps the Site Supervisor informed about daily issues and opportunities, including customer complaints and employee questions or concerns.

  • Maintains a positive environment that is cohesive to achieve goals. Provides a clean, fun, and safe environment for all customers and fellow employees.

  • Maintains a personal level of performance consistent with corporate guidelines.

  • Ensures all customers receive exceptional customer service, and acceptable behaviors and practices for interacting with customers as defined by the supervisor are consistently met.

  • Maintains effective communication with other site supervisors and fellow employees.

  • Background Screening - All candidates must pass a pre-employment background check. Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and qualify under the district's insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle. Additionally, will submit to and pass a 10-point drug screen pre-hire, during promotions, and if accidents occur.

  • Light to Moderate Physical Work - Is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and sit for extended periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
