Engineer II - Electrical, are responsible for completing professional engineering assignments of moderately board scope. Receives general direction however should be able to exercise discretion as to personal work details. They are expected to support or lead projects by using off-the-shelf (existing and within the same industry) technology with minimum guidance. Engineer II usually perform many of the following tasks:

  • Assumes responsibility of all engineering project work and delegates or coordinates sub-tasks to other functions.
  • Takes lead responsibility of a product project from beginning to end including certification and qualification.
  • Supports or leads multiple projects concurrently.
  • Displays technical competency in one or more operational areas (e.g. PCB & PCBA design of electronic controls, power electronics, automation, materials, equipment, design, human-machine-interface systems).
  • Create and/ or adapt firmware and/ or software to enable intended control functionality.
  • Demonstrates and acts on innovative traits: curiosity, continuous questioning, open minded, investigative.
  • Makes appropriate decisions using decision support tools and critical thinking including risk reward ratios and critical pathing.
  • Mindful of business impact.
  • Contributes to major and minor technical work of consumer innovation projects and other strategic business initiatives.
  • Demonstrates and acts on quality traits; analytical, hands-on, high standards, facilitating, and systematic.
  • Leads and performs technical work of consumer- focused projects and other quality initiatives.
  • Establish new product bills of materials and manage change process on current production machines.
  • Create or direct the creation of assembly and sub-assembly drawings and release to production.
  • Participate in building and testing engineering prototypes and circuit boards.
  • Maintains state-of-the-art awareness of relevant product technologies, analysis methods, design tools and methodologies.
Qualifications
  • Required to have 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
  • An advanced degree (MS) could be considered to replace 1-2 years of required experience.
  • Applicants for Engineer II - Electrical need to have a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from universities or colleges accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Detail oriented with time management skills.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office and CAD (Solid works preferred)
  • Proficiency in electrical theory and common industry practices.
  • Ability to read and use measuring devices. Ability to use electrical assembly tools.
  • Ability to write embedded software (C and/or C++).
  • Ability to layout PCB components per design using electronic design automation (EDA) software.
  • Capable of using accepted formulas and manuals in making necessary computations to determine load capacities, strengths, etc.
  • Ability to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) required, by company policy, for the job being performed.
  • Experience in product certification in UL and EN/IEC product safety standards a plus
  • Experience in product evaluation to EMC/EMI standards is a plus
