RECRUITING NOTE : Rarely will you find someone with a title of "Data Modeler". It is usually more of a function of someone's background. You may see people with titles of Data Architect, Data Engineer, Application Architect, etc. It is most important that the majority of their most recent work be data modeling focused in order for them to be qualified for this. So don't be worried about titles as it will likely not match up.

Project Overview:

Elixir is looking to engage Turnberry to deliver thought leadership & to support the development of enterprise architecture as well as the conceptual, logical, and physical models to enable the Core PBM's adjudicator engine. This Stage Gate #1 will include eliciting business and technical requirements for the current and future state architectural needs, factoring in both industry best practices as well as anticipated platform modernizations (i.e. industry standard moving to SaaS)

We have 3 other consultants already working on the team (Sr Project Manager, Sr Data Architect, Sr Technical BA).

Job Description - Data Modeler

Description

The Data Modeler's role is to direct, evaluate, review, and manage database resources and services across the organization while ensuring high levels of data quality with the goal of contributing to key business needs. This individual is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software. Where required, the Database Analyst will design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance-tune production databases.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and administer strategies for the use-case-specific modeling.
  • Work with application development staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Develop long-term goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers.

Acquisition & Deployment
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.

Operational Management
  • Analyze user requirements for reports, forms, queries, and data extraction.
  • Create and document models for new database development and/or changes to existing ones through data flowcharting.
  • Coordinate data model development with the higher-level data architecture to ensure cross-application consistency.
  • Ensure the stability and reliability of data access and data quality across the organization via ongoing database support and maintenance.
  • Develop and deploy end-user practices and tools for data extraction, queries, and data manipulation in accordance with business processes.
  • Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Assist with the installation and configuration of relevant network components to ensure database access, consistency, and integrity.
  • Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
  • Advise on the allocation of physical data storage for database systems.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.

Knowledge & Experience
  • Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Excellent understanding of, and experience with, server-client computing and relational database environments.
  • In-depth experience with data management and data processing flowcharting techniques.
  • Broad knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices.
  • Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting database servers
  • Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience.
  • Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
