The scope of Hubbard's work includes complex highway projects, site development, paving, utility and drainage systems, surveying, RAP and hot mix sales, and state-of-the-art bridge building. We provide multiple delivery systems in design-build, bid-build, public/private-partnerships and design-build finance.

This is an entry level position in heavy highway and site development construction. The Jr. Estimator will support Estimators and Senior Estimators and will provides accurate quantity and material take-off to aid in the preparation of competitive bids.

Key Duties:

Ability to accurately read plans.

Analyzing plans and identifying scope of work.

Estimating earth and material quantities using AGTEC. Take off to be performed by digitizing plans or by analyzing AutoCAD files in AGTEC.

Take off work using plans, or AutoCAD files.

Comparing take off quantities to actual pay quantities.

Notify estimators of irregularities between actual take off quantities and plan quantities.

Work with estimators to identify phases of work.

Provide take off data by work phase to estimators.

Call subcontractors and suppliers to solicit bid proposals

Bid Day Activities.

Collect all received quotations and distribute to appropriate estimators.

Call subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that they are sending in quotations.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

General. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Education and Experience. This position is an entry-level position in heavy highway and site development construction. A two-year degree in Building Construction, Civil/Surveying Engineering Technology or equivalent required. Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with management and fellow employees. Experience working for a General Contractor preferred. Typical projects are bridges, interstate rehabs, highway replacements, paving, and airport projects. Valid Florida drivers license and satisfactory driving record required.

Physical Demands. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Jr. Estimator to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Regularly required to sit and/or stand during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day.

Employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.

Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 25 pounds and carry up to 15 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Continuous mental attention required to complete tasks in an efficient manner.

Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that an Estimating Technician encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Work is performed indoors.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
