Richardson, United States Skyven Technologies Full time
About the Opportunity

At Skyven Technologies, we have developed a revolutionary heat pump technology to decarbonize industrial heat. We implement this technology through an innovative Energy-as-a-Service model that saves our customers money with no capital outlay. We are hiring a Senior Financial Analyst as a key role to join our dynamic Finance team. This is an opportunity to make a real impact at an innovative and growing climate tech company.

Industrial heat is responsible for a large share of global CO2 emissions, roughly equivalent to emissions generated by all transportation (including land, sea, and air). And it is a compelling business opportunity - it will take an estimated $3.7 trillion in capital investment to decarbonize the sector by 2050. Skyven is at the forefront of this transformation and has recently achieved a significant milestone by being selected for a $145M investment from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to accelerate the deployment of our state-of-the-art Skyven Arcturus steam-generating heat pumps (SGHPs) at manufacturing facilities nationwide, revolutionizing how we address energy needs while combating climate change.

About the Role

In this role, you'll work closely with the Director of Finance and other key stakeholders across the company. We are looking for a candidate with an analytical mindset, strong finance modeling experience, and a passionate interest in climate change. The ideal candidate has a strong background in project finance in the industrial or energy sector and is familiar with energy markets and off-take agreements.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Modeling and Analysis: Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to evaluate the cost and financial viability of industrial heat pump projects at large manufacturing sites. Work closely with engineering and sales teams to estimate project economics and simulate possible scenarios to inform decision-making on industrial decarbonization projects.
  • Project Finance: Support the structuring, negotiation, and execution of financing for projects, including debt, equity, and grant financing. Interact with financial institutions, investors, and grant funders.
  • Energy Market Analysis: Assess energy costs for projects at different manufacturing sites across the US. Consider relevant electricity market regulations and grid services programs to analyze strategies for optimal power sourcing. Keep abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and innovations that could impact project economics.
  • Project Financial Management: Collaborate with project managers to develop and manage project budgets during project development and operation. Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to ensure project financial health.
  • Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis: Manage Skyven's budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes by collaborating with internal stakeholders. Build and optimize reporting tools to support Skyven's leadership and board.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal teams, including project development, legal, and engineering, as well as external partners and consultants, to ensure alignment and achieve project financial objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of in-depth experience in financial modeling with emphasis on large capital projects
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with structuring and analyzing project finance deals
  • Experience in electricity markets preferred
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency, experience with other financial or visualization software is a plus
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial information to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Team player with strong work ethic and high motivation to join a startup in climate tech
