Product Safety Engineer

Job DescriptionWe are looking for skilled Product Safety Engineers to conduct testing/evaluation and certify electrical and mechanical products. Location: Damascus, MDJob Type: Permanent / Direct HireDuties:Utilize knowledge of electrical engineering to conduct safety and performance testing and evaluation of electrical and mechanical products including, but not limited to, medical devices, laboratory devices, industrial machinery and household appliances for commercial or governmental applicationUse knowledge of electrical engineering to perform testing and certification using published safety standards such as UL, CSA, IEC, EN, FCC, CE, etc.Create and implement test procedures and test plansPrepare certification/test reports presenting findings and results of testing for submission to certifying bodies in the United States, Canada and EuropeCommunicate with customer's engineering staff regarding the project, including explanation of findings, status, requests for documentationReport to Safety Technical Manager (bi-weekly)Work in conjunction with other Electrical Engineers including Senior Safety Engineer, Senior Project Engineer and Safety Lab CoordinatorReview test report work that is prepared by other engineersParticipate in Continuing Education in the area of product safety standards and certification testing, as standards are revised from time to time, in-house and outside training venuesRequirementsSkills/Experience:Education - BS Electrical EngineeringElectrical Engineer - must have background in Testing/Evaluating/Certifying electrical (and mechanical) productsProduct Safety - experience performing Safety Evaluations to Regulatory StandardsBenefitsThe position offers competitive salary and great benefits including health and dental insurance; paid vacation (rolls over year to year), sick and personal days; 401K plan; profit-sharing plan; supplemental short/long term disability, life insurance and legal shield insurance.
