Join to apply for the Airworthiness Engineer role at CMC Electronics CMC Electronics is a leading supplier of electronic products for the aviation markets, delivering innovative cockpit and avionics system integration solutions worldwide. Location Onsite in our Reston, VA office. U.S. export control regulations require eligibility for required authorization. Responsibilities Prepare certification plans and collaborate with product development teams to establish the Certification Basis. Serve as primary point of contact with the regulatory authority for avionics product certification. Lead presentations to Certification Authorities, including concept briefings and type board meetings. Manage avionics safety and compliance using SAE ARP 4761/4754A guidance. Ensure contractual and derived system and safety requirements are achieved by the design team. Assess the impact of design, manufacturing, maintenance and operational procedures on system safety. Participate in internal/external design reviews and peer reviews to ensure compliance with airworthiness standards. Prepare and submit the draft Type Certificate Data Sheet to the Certification Authority. Review and approve Instructions for Continued Airworthiness for already certified products. Perform all other tasks assigned as needed. Requirements Bachelor of Engineering degree (Bachelor of Science in Engineering) from a recognized university. Minimum 7 years of experience in a high?technology airworthiness certification environment. Knowledge of Civil Airborne Safety System standards; SAE ARP 4761 & 4754A. Technical expertise in Electrical, Avionic and Electronic systems. Strong communication and technical writing skills. Strong analytical and problem?solving abilities. Dynamic and innovative team player. Preferred 10+ years of relevant experience in a high?technology civil aviation TSO?certification environment. Knowledge of Civil Airborne Safety Standards AC 2X.1309, MIL?HDBK?882 and MIL?HDBK?217F. GPS or FMS product knowledge. Benefits Fast?paced environment with significant autonomy.
