System Freight, Inc. is seeking a dependable and efficient CDL-A Local Driver who specializes in direct-to-store deliveries. Join a team that stands at the forefront of service quality, supported by an extensive infrastructure designed to ensure timely delivery solutions, especially in the Northeastern United States. This role is pivotal in maintaining the strong reputation of System Freight, Inc. for consistent, on-time deliveries, ensuring goods are transported securely and efficiently to our clients across local routes. Operate CDL Class A trucks over local routes to deliver goods directly to stores or distribution centers. Ensure timely delivery of freight as per routing schedules while adhering to all safety regulations and guidelines. Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance where required. Plan routes and meet delivery schedules, leveraging knowledge of the local geography and traffic patterns. Document and log work/rest periods and kilometers spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts. Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures. Manage load/unload operations and ensure the security of the cargo. Communicate effectively with dispatch and other team members to report any issues or concerns. Proven work experience as a truck driver with expertise in navigating local routes. Hands-on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB, etc). Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly with familiarity in local traffic patterns. Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations. No recent driving or moving violations. Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.).
