Position Summary

The Director of Clinical Services provides leadership and oversight of two behavioral health clinics, located in New Haven and Waterbury. This position reports to the Senior Director of Behavioral Health and oversees all outpatient mental health and substance use treatment services in the clinics. The Director of Clinical Services also works closely with funders and other community agencies, provides supervision and professional development for staff, monitors the budget, identifies and implements new programs, and ensures that the clinics provide high quality treatment services and meet all licensure, accreditation and funding requirements.

General Duties And Responsibilities

Administratively responsible for any and all clinical programs in the clinics.

Provides oversight and monitoring of all assigned grants.

Coordinates matters relating to clinical licensure and managed care requirements.

Manage assigned program budgets and ensure productivity targets are consistently met by staff.

Responsible for the development of high quality behavioral health services consistent with contemporary clinical and social research and the needs of the community.

Ensures all required clinical documentation is completed, reviewed and signed in required time frame for billing.

Provides performance management for staff and managers- interviewing, hiring, supervision, training, evaluation and retention.

Maintain activities and open line of communication with funders, referral sources, community agencies, and other providers.

Actively pursues continuous quality improvement for programs and clinics.

Completes required reports for funders and agency.

Participates in regular administrative meetings to evaluate and review program issues and services.

Recommends policy and procedural changes.

Monitor and ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations, licensing, funder and accrediting body (Council on Accreditation) standards for the delivery of clinical treatment. Ensure supervisee compliance with such standards and regulations.

Utilizes data to inform changes and enhance services.

Perform in leadership capacity as requested by administrative staff regarding research, professional development, community relations and inter-agency functions.

Evaluate and contribute to improving the organization’s cultural proficiency.

Uses a leadership style that creates and maintains a trauma-informed environment based upon mutual respect, trust, and teamwork.

Accept and carry out other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess and maintain a State of Connecticut Professional License (LCSW, LPC, LMFT or Licensed Psychologist), master’s degree in clinical practice and at least 5 years of progressive behavioral health supervision and managerial experience following the receipt of professional license. Candidate must have experience in mental health and substance use treatment and must meet certification and licensure standards established by the State of Connecticut and the Council on Accreditation.
