Thalle Construction Co. Inc. ("Thalle") is seeking a Service Writer/Administrative Assistant. This position is located out of our Corporate Headquarters in Hillsborough, North Carolina.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Service Writer/Administrative Assistant is responsible for ensuring that the parts orders and service request are completed with accuracy. This position requires strong communication skills. This position supports the Equipment Department to ensure that service quality is maintained, and administrative support is provided to the managers and technicians within the Equipment department. Coordinate with projects pertaining to activities engaged company owned and rental equipment.

Compensation starts at $18.00 per hour. Position is FLSA non-exempt.

  • Reviews and schedules preventive maintenance services due.
  • Creates and closes maintenance work orders.
  • Places filter orders for PM services due.
  • Assists with parts receiving to ensure seamless workflow.
  • Imports hour meter report CSV files into Viewpoint software.
  • Assists with managing DOT compliance.
  • Contributes and guides others to understanding and supporting our cost-conscious culture.
  • Supports and contributes to the development and success of warranty and policy programs for recovery of expenses.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for equipment repairs using known best practices.
  • Assists in the development and of short-and-long-range planning activities covering all aspects of fleet services and parts.
  • Assures timely and accurate responses to the Equipment Manager and directives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
*Training will be provided for the listed tasks.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • Any combination of education and/or experience fleet maintenance and heavy equipment operations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the following: principles, methods and practices pertaining to the coordinating of fleet maintenance and repair operations. Understanding of fleet operational goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; tools, lubricants, equipment, procedures, and logistics used in servicing, repairing equipment. Methods used in the planning/coordination of an effective program for preventative maintenance and repair cost tracking.
  • Significant work experience in the following: accurate record keeping; research and procurement procedures; parts acquisition; use of automated equipment maintenance systems used in generating work orders, parts utilization reports and labor productivity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Skill in organization, time management, prioritization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
  • Strong team player who is able to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen.
  • Able to work independently, sometimes under strict time constraints.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
