Position OverviewDelta Utilities is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller for the company. This position will oversee all financial activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations and providing strategic financial guidance to the leadership team. This position will also support the standup activities, including developing and implementing internal processes based on industry best practices and compliance regulations.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, finance, and internal operations, with a proven track record of success and leadership abilities, preferably in a stand-up or large-scale organization environment. This is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee all aspects of the companys financial management, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and analysisManage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledgerEnsure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax lawsCollaborate with other internal stakeholders to develop and maintain controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial dataPrepare and present financial reports and analyses to senior management and stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations to support decision-makingCoordinate the annual budgeting process and monitor performance against budgeted targetsLead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring timely completion of audit deliverablesManage cash flow and working capital to optimize liquidity and support business operationsProvide strategic financial guidance to senior management, including investment analysis, cost optimization, and revenue enhancement initiativesStay informed about industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes that may impact the company's financial performanceQualificationsA bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is required; a combination of experience and education that clearly demonstrates comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities may be suitableRelevant certifications strongly preferred, such as the CPA or CMA certificationsA minimum of seven to ten years of related professional experience is required, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity, preferably in an industrial or utilities settingStrong technical knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirementsProficiency in accounting software and ERP systemsStrong communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with team members at all levels of the organizationExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insightsStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholdersAbout Delta UtilitiesDelta Utilities is a leading natural gas utility with a focus on safe, dependable service to customers. Headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, the utility will serve nearly 600,000 customers and become of the leading natural gas providers in Louisiana and Mississippi and among the top 40 providers in the United States.In 2023, Entergy announced that it had entered into an agreement with Delta Utilities to sell its Louisiana gas distribution business. The natural gas utility currently serves more than 200,000 customers across East Baton Rouge and Orleans parishes. In February 2024, Delta Utilities entered into an agreement with CenterPoint Energy to acquire its Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas businesses, which currently serve approximately 381,000 customers. Once the transactions are complete, Entergy's Louisiana natural gas operations and CenterPoint Energy's Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas systems will be operated by Delta Utilities.Delta Utilities and associated entities are equal-opportunity employers.
