  • JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
    • Provides assistance to the anesthesiologists, under the direction and supervision of both the anesthesia medical staff and the registered nursing staff in surgery.
  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    • The Anesthesia team at Samaritan Health Services provides analgesia (relief from or prevention of pain), paralysis (muscle relaxation), amnesia (loss of memory), or unconsciousness. We are responsible for pre-anesthetic evaluation and care, medical management of the anesthetic procedure, management of the patient during surgery and post-care, and medical direction of any assisting non-physician who provides anesthesia care to the patient. Our hospitals are in accordance with the ASA Guidelines for the Ethical Practice of Anesthesiology and Guidelines for Patient Care in Anesthesiology.
  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
    • High School diploma or equivalent required.
    • One (1) year experience in a similar position or successful completion of an ASATT accredited Anesthesia Technician or Technologist program required.
    • Healthcare Provider BLS required.

Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and communicating with patients and caregivers.     • Mechanical: Knowledge of tools and equipment and how to use machines or systems. Ability to safely and effectively operate a variety of computerized simulation and treatment machines.
    • Confidentiality: Knowledge of State and Federal (HIPAA) laws pertaining to confidentiality of protected health information. Ability to comply with laws and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
