Opportunity

The Nurse Informatics Specialist serves in an infrastructure role across the organization by specializing in patient care processes and clinician workflow, leads initiatives to promote effective process design, development and implementation of electronic medical record (EMR) and other technology enhancements. This role collaborates with end users to help define health care information problems and solutions by participating in facility wide and system wide improvement teams. Through interviews with clinical experts, providers, and stakeholders, gathers pertinent data to translate clinical knowledge into clinical rules, alerts, and ordersets/smartsets in the EMR. Responsible for analysis, planning, development, testing, training and implementation of new products to support electronic medical record documentation. This role maximizes the potential within the clinical information systems to enhance the delivery of quality care and patient safety initiatives set forth by the mission, vision, and values of Mosaic Community Health.

Responsibilities

Partner with the Medical Director, Informatics and Director, Technology and Clinical Informatics in realizing the effectiveness of health information technology in workflows that impact clinical and non-clinical users Serve as the clinical expert and consultant on Epic issues, providing expertise regarding Epic procedures for clinical and non-clinical staff Utilize current trends, relevant theory, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, safety and regulatory standards to identify and analyze problem areas in clinical programs or practice Incorporate clinical informatics knowledge and strategies to initiate change in clinical practices and workflows to optimize the continuous adoption and utilization of the EMR Work with Clinical Applications, IT, and Clinical Leadership to select, evaluate, and test new or modified health application solutions, data structures, and decision-support mechanisms to support patients, health care professionals, and their information systems management Develop and deliver training programs for clinical applications and practice management software, creating, guides, operating manuals, and testing materials as needed Provide ongoing support of health information systems as needed in support of projects and program initiatives
