Job Title: Comptroller
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Summary: Responsible for assisting with the supervision and management of the financial plans and policies including planning, controlling, and directing the accounting and financial reporting systems. Performs a wide range of duties which require tact, judgment, independent action, and the ability to handle multiple assignments with critical timelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists with preparation of the center's, federal and state budgets, reviewing budget proposals, and preparing necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Assist with the preparation of the organization's federal and state budgets, reviewing budget proposals, and preparing necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Provide timely reviews of the organization's financial status and progress in its various grant programs and activities.
  • Prepare and analyze reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge regarding compliance with federal and state grants and contracts requirements. Evaluate Missouri Enterprise's compliance and advise management on any necessary actions.
  • Monitor and advise the CFO, CEO, and Board on cash management, investments, as well as state and federal tax issues.
  • Assist in the audit of the company's accounts.
  • Ensure cross-training in all other functions of the core operations team to provide backup or assistance when necessary, in areas such as payroll, accounts receivables, accounts payable, human resource functions, purchasing, bank reconciliation, month-end reporting, etc.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Significant experience in grant accounting and budgeting is required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A valid driver's license is required.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to participate in overnight travel 10% of the time.
