**WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:**
The Safety Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and success of the Employee Safety Program in all Quality Bicycle Products (Q) facilities. The primary function of this position is to develop and lead the implementation of a comprehensive plan to anticipate, identify, and mitigate conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage. The Safety Manager will research, and utilize safety standards, best practices, and analytical techniques to develop and measure the success of the Employee Safety Program, and provide support with the COVID-19 pandemic- and disaster-related Preparedness Plans and policies and protocol as needed.

The ultimate goal of this position is to create a company-wide culture of safety at Q and thereby minimize accidents and injuries involving our team.
Initiate and Manage all Safety Functions within Q [40%]
o

Manage workers compensation claims with our insurance carrier, provide updates and reporting to affected leaders, and support injured employees in their return to health and work
o

Lead investigations of reported safety incidents, including forklift incidents
o

Coordinate training, conduct MVR checks, and audit the Q Approved Driver and Approved Sprinter Van Driver programs.
o

Manage all safety resources on the internal Safety Sharepoint site
o

Prepare and lead all safety committees and safety related meetings
o

Manage and train Qs first Responder Program
o

Serve as a liaison with all on-site contractors to ensure compliance with company safety policies including hot work practices and lockout/tagout
o

Identify unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards, investigate root causes, and identify corrective and preventative actions and report to leadership
o

Coordinate at least 2 evacuation/weather shelter exercises per year at all locations
Employee Safety Program: [30%]
o

Establish strategic plans annually for Qs employee safety program which will ensure Qs compliance with OSHA, state, federal and local regulations and safety standards at all sites while also developing a culture of safety among leaders and employees
o

Draft, present, train, implement, and audit new safety policies and protocols.
o

Develop systems and processes to ensure all employees are trained, understand, and comply with all relevant safety requirements and policies
o

Work with leadership at all levels to ensure legal requirements, safety policies and safe work practices are followed at all Q sites, at Q events, and during employee travel
o

Manage Qs Driver Safety Program, monitor compliance, and lead improvements
o

Coordinate OSHA required training, including but not limited to, hazardous materials training and powered industrial truck training
o

Serve as the company liaison with external

partners, such as our insurance company, local safety councils, and local fire departments, to learn about safety improvement opportunities and to evaluate Qs program relative to applicable benchmarks
o

Lead or otherwise support subject matter experts with the creation and maintenance of Response Plans for:

Natural disasters
*

Pandemics
*

Fire and smoke events
*

Flood and water damage
*

Civil unrest or disturbance
*

Active shooter situations
Employee Safety Program Metrics [20%]
o

Create, monitor and publish key safety metrics with the goal of improving Qs experience rating (Mod rate) to identified goals
o

Evaluate incident forms, reports, suggestions, surveys, metrics and audits to establish root causes and formulate a plan of action to correct non-compliance behavior or conditions
o

Investigate incidents and accidents, conduct root cause analysis, make recommendations to mitigate or eliminate the risk, and document results
o

Provide support to HR on safety and injury related matters
o

Work with all Site Directors, Safety Coordinators, and Safety Committees to ensure safety policies and safe work practices are followed at all Q sites
o

Train Accident Investigators to establish root cause in an effort to prevent future occurrences
o

Analyze and interpret loss trends by location and the company as a whole
o

Compile, analyze, interpret and report on statistical data related to incidents and injuries, to include trending and high/low limits

**WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:**
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
o

Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field and 5 or more years of relevant work experience, or 10 or more years of relevant work experience and current and relevant safety certifications (e.g. OSHA #501)
o

Demonstrated ability to motivate others to improve and promote acceptance, awareness, effectiveness and results of the Employee Safety Program
o

Interest and experience in project managing new safety policy and protocol development through execution
o

Desire to continuously learn and expand personal knowledge of Safety and Risk Management, and then apply those learnings
o

Ability to serve as a good steward of company resources
o

Ability to work effectively under pressure, respond positively to change, and manage the change process with others
o

Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills
o

Ability to manage, analyze and present statistical data using Excel or similar software
o

Attention to detail, engagement, and positivity
o

Willingness to take initiative and work effectively without close supervision, maintain accuracy and quantity of work under pressure of deadlines and changing priorities, and adaptable and flexible with change
o

Ability to uphold consistent application of established policies

Ability to travel domestically 5 or more times a year which includes flying by plane and driving a motor vehicle. Must possess a valid US drivers license and fulfill the requirements of being a Q Approved Driver
