Description

General Function: Responsible for aiding Teen Program Coordinator in planning, implementing, and supervising a complete and diversified educational, social and recreational program and activities for teen members ages 13-18 and young adult members and staff ages 19 - 24 years at the Alfond Youth & Community Center in accordance with the mission of the Alfond Youth & Community Center. Report directly to the Teen Program Coordinator and Childcare and Youth Development Director.

Qualifications: Should have a BA or BS in Child Development or related field with a minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in teen programming, group social work, recreational field, social education field, or outdoor/camp programs. Ability to encourage confidence, trust, and respect from the members, staff, and public within the mission of the Alfond Youth & Community Center. Must have excellent communication skills along with the understanding of teens, have current CPR and First Aid certification or be willing to become certified.

Job Segments:

•Direct and operate programs and services for teen members ages 13-18 and young adult members and staff ages 19 - 24, in accordance with the standards, philosophies, and policies of the State of Maine licensing guidelines within budget limitations.

•Liaison between the AYCC and local school systems, colleges, and work environments to assist youth in creating successful academic and work place opportunities in collaboration with Teen Program Coordinator.

•Organize and implement programming, events, and field trips for AYCC Teen Programs.

•Oversee and operate various program areas as needed (i.e. computer lab and library, gyms, Wellness Center).

•Implement, promote, and publicize Teen programs and activities.

•Assist members with behavior, attitude, or emotional concerns and supply referrals to Mental Health Counselor and other services.

•Submit for approval all purchases, supplies and equipment requests expenses within budget limitations.

•Maintain social and recreational facilities and equipment, recommending needed repairs and improvements to the Teen Program Coordinator and/or Child and Youth Development Director.

•Assist in related fund raising for the organization.

•Keep accurate and adequate records of attendance, participation, and progress of all participants.

•Assist Teen Program Coordinator in submitting reports and information when, and as required, by the Grants Manager and/or HR Director.

•Continue personal professional growth by participating in related courses, institutes, and workshops approved by the Chief Executive Officer and authorized by the Board of Directors.

•Understand and support the AYCC mission, core beliefs, and workplace statement.

•Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Description

$17- $19 / hour
