Senior level buyer position is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment and supplies from vendors. Buyer evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers. Buyer is familiar with a variety of the concepts, practices and procedures in the field of purchasing. Buyer relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Buyer performs a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Reviews purchase orders and amendments for parts, services and tooling.
* Leads product launches when sourcing new product or resourcing product.
* Identify and recommend alternative parts, materials or manufacturing methods to reduce costs.
* Leads sourcing initiatives with the understanding of total cost and cost drivers.
* Leads efforts to standardize and streamline processes.
* Work toward supplier reduction and consolidation.
* Work closely with suppliers to reduce cost and/or eliminate price increases.
* Create and maintain requisitions and PO's for the regular and discrete purchases.
* Lead appropriate special projects as required; i.e. Packaging Database creation, Faciliworks.
* Set prices with vendors, verify invoiced prices, and confirm on-time delivery of items ordered.
* Contact vendors with issues concerning prices.
* Assure compliance to appropriate EMP work instructions, procedures and policies.
* Develops suppliers to ensure quality and delivery while reducing costs.
* Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, inventory control and management, negotiates prices and delivery terms.
* Secures and analyzes quotations, negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery.
**Education and/or Experience**
Bachelors degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
