Description

Under the guidance of more senior personnel the Junior Systems Administrator will maintain, upgrade and provide support for clients software, hardware, and networks.

The Junior Systems Administrator needs to be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and be available to respond to help desk requests after hours.

The individual should be able easily to communicate technical concerns and solutions to many different people with varying degrees of technical knowledge as well as work with individuals in all departments to help solve their technical issues.

The Junior Systems Administrator is also responsible for assisting senior personnel in maintaining our system infrastructure, including firewalls, testing computer equipment, backing up databases, installing and updating malware software, installing and rebuilding existing servers as well as other processes.

Junior Systems Administrators will also participate in discussions and meetings with vendors and internal management/staff to provide technical knowledge and support to initiatives and projects that are either under development or under way.

As part of the everyday responsibilities these persons must be able to effectively communicate in an oral and written fashion. Communications can take the form of daily or weekly reports, internal documentation of processes and/or procedures, instructional guides for software applications and the like, etc.

Requirements

Configure setup and deploy desktop computers, thin-clients, and mobile devices.
Assist Senior Personnel in the setup/configuration and management of physical and virtual servers.
Support applications in use by the organization both common off the shelf applications (such as word processors, spreadsheets, etc.) and Healthcare related applications.
Express technical concepts in a manner that is compatible with the target audience.
Work on IT issues that are unique to Healthcare and provide technology support to other areas in the Healthcare environment.
Assist in maintaining Inventory and monitoring of assets either in a manual fashion or by utilizing applications and systems that can assist with these functions (Spiceworks, LanSweeper, etc.)
With the assistance of senior personnel utilize more advanced tools to trouble network performance and monitoring (Stormwinds).
Provide basic support of web sites such as updating content, minor modifications to the appearance of pages, etc.
Explore new technologies by researching, downloading, and evaluating them. This would include investigating, evaluating and putting into use open source applications that can help the department and organization.
Independently and with guidance a Junior System Administrators will document processes, procedures, configurations, settings, etc. and also development and maintain daily operations documentations. These administrators will also regularly report the status and updates to projects and tasks that are assigned to them.
