Reports To: Corps Officers

FLSA Status: Temporary Part-Time / 29 hours per week; Non-Exempt

Dates of Employment: November 1, 2024 - January 31, 2025

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Food Bank Coordinator oversees the operations of The Salvation Army Food Bank. The coordinator supervises the receipt and distributions of foods and goods through the food bank. The coordinator oversees volunteer development and supervision. The position provides information and referral to clients which will assist them to meet their emergency needs and works to help valley residents meet their material needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Must be 18 years or older
•Obtain a food handler's card within 60 days of employment (must renew as necessary)
•Must be able to lift and carry weight @ 50lbs on a regular basis
•Working knowledge of personal computer
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
•Must be able to pass a criminal background check and MVR record check
•Must have a valid AK driver's license as some driving will be required
•Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
•Ability to set up and maintain electronic and paper records
•Ability to establish and maintain the confidence and cooperation of volunteers
•High school diploma or equivalent

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
•Operates the food pantry; order, track and maintain inventory; stocks shelving, assembles food boxes, updates files accordingly, and maintains food pantry in a clean and organized condition.
•Coordinates/develops donor partnerships with local grocers and food distributors.
•Maintains an excellent, responsive rapport with donors, scheduling pickups and taking products in a way helpful to vendors
•Recruits, trains and utilize community volunteers
•Ensures the food bank is clean and in compliance with Food Bank of Alaska
•Operates the CFSP & TFAP programs by maintaining required records, submitting applications, reporting statistics to the Food Bank, and handing out food boxes in accordance with program rules
•Drive large vehicle (non-DOT) as needed to pick up food from the Food Bank distribution points and/or deliver food and supplies across the Mat-Su Valley.
•Must be able to use every day cleaning products, pest control chemicals and tolerate expected levels of dusts/molds associated with running a food bank.
•Creates and maintains appropriate boundaries with clients, volunteers, and staff
•Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the Corps Officers as needed
•Maintain Millage logs, gas receipts, and notifies officers of any maintenance issues
•Warehouse production operation, including (but not limited to) maintaining the excess food, reception, and office areas as well as keeping storage areas clean and organized (including, but not limited to, refrigerators, freezers, pallets, and shelving).
•Maintains daily Temperature logs.
•Maintains client and statistical records for all Family Services related assistance and submits statistics within time frames allowed.
•Assists with seasonal programs to include, but not limited to: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and School Supply programs
•Provides training to food pantry volunteers as requested; models team behavior; attends staff meetings and gatherings.
•Assists in crisis intervention by alerting emergency services, as appropriate such as; police, medical, psychiatric, etc.
•Inspects food bank vehicles daily for any safety or maintenance issues and reports them to Management or Maintenance Division at DHQ.
•Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, from time to time, by the Corps Officer or their designated representatives

Language Skills: Must be able to understand, follow and give both written and oral instructions and be able to give presentations and be comfortable with public speaking. The employee must be able to use speech and hearing for ordinary and telephone conversation.

Mathematical Skills: Must be able to perform simple calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and apply concepts such as ratios and percentages in practical situations.

Performance Skills: Must be creative, self-motivated, organized, flexible, and possess leadership skills.

Sacred Boundaries and Protect the Mission: Must complete the online course for this area and pass the Background Check required by The Salvation Army for employment.

Physical Requirements:
•Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
•Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks and miscellaneous carts.
•Ability to lift up to 50lbs - (anything over will require help from another staff/volunteer)
•Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks
