Position Title: CMM Programmer

Department: Quality Assurance

Reports To: Quality Assurance Lab Supervisor

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Inspects products at various stages of the production process to assure conformance to Engineering requirements. Interface with Quality Assurance Manager, Inspection Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineering and shop personnel to ensure initial, as well as continued, compliance of product throughout the manufacturing process.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES
  • Primary responsibility will be to program and operate Brown and Sharpe CMM using PC-DMIS software.
  • Perform mechanical and visual inspection of machined components to ensure conformance to Engineering drawings.
  • Dimensionally inspects product for conformance to Engineering drawings using standard measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, comparators and fixed gauges to include height gages.
  • Generate documentation necessary to provide objective evidence of conformance to Engineering requirements.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Three years related experience in programming and operation of DCC Coordinate Measuring Machines in performance of inspections of machined components.
  • Knowledge of PC-DMIS software preferred, but not necessary.
  • Ability to read and write English and interpret documents such as Engineering drawings, Quality Procedures and Inspection/Control plans.
  • Must have experience with, and a solid understanding of, GD&T.
  • Must be able to perform math calculations, including decimal calculations, statistics, geometry and trigonometry principles.
  • Must be capable of using precision instruments and be able to perform surface plate layout inspection as required.
  • Ability to use jigs, fixtures or measuring instruments.
  • Must be able to use any required charts, maintain and understand records.
  • Must be able to work from written and verbal instructions.
  • SPC Experience preferred, but not necessary.
  • Must have proficient computer skills.
