Technical Sales Manager - Specialty Food & Beverage Ingredients About
Alexander Steele have partnered with a leading supplier of high-quality specialty food and beverage ingredients. We are actively seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Technical Sales Manager to join their growing team.
The Technical Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales growth of the specialty food and beverage ingredients portfolio across the western states (CA, UT & AZ). This role combines technical expertise with strong sales acumen, requiring a deep understanding of stabilizers & emulsifiers, and their applications in various food and beverage formulations. The ideal candidate will build and maintain strong customer relationships, provide technical support, and drive company revenue.
Location: Candidates MUST be based in CA or UT.
Responsibilities:
Achieve and exceed sales targets within the assigned territory.
Develop and implement sales strategies to drive growth and market penetration.
Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals.
Negotiate contracts and close deals.
Maintain accurate sales records, manage CRM platform and provide regular sales reports.
Provide technical expertise and support to customers regarding product applications and formulations.
Conduct product demonstrations and training sessions.
Collaborate with R&D and application teams to address customer needs and develop innovative solutions.
Stay up-to-date on industry trends, product innovations, and competitive landscape.
Troubleshoot customer issues and provide timely and effective solutions.
Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing expert guidance and support.
Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to network and promote the company's products.
~40% travel expectation across assigned territory.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field (MSc/PhD preferred).
Minimum 5 years of experience in technical sales/service within the food and beverage ingredients industry.
Strong understanding of food and beverage formulations and applications.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to travel within the assigned territory.
Proficiency in CRM software.
Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with specific ingredient categories (e.g., flavors, sweeteners, emulsifiers, stabilizers).
Previous experience working with/for food & beverage ingredient distributors.
Existing network of contacts within the food and beverage industry.
