Role Overview:

The Senior Financial Analyst will serve as a senior financial analyst and accountant for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT). The ideal candidate will have several years of accounting experience, as well as strong financial analysis skills. Relying upon extensive knowledge and experience in governmental accounting requirements, this position will be responsible for assuring the agency remains in compliance with statutory requirements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as set by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). This position will identify areas of concern due to new standards and changes in policy or procedures and assist in the development of actions within the area of financial reporting to keep the agency in compliance with GAAP. This position will also coordinate the multiple single federal audits and assist with the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report Audit and State Compliance Audit. The Employee will also serve as the accountant and financial analyst for all Ohio River Bridge (ORB) tolling operations. This will include the in-depth review of complex ORB traffic and financial data and generation/development of various Monthly Executive Reports to communicate the current operations. The Employee will also be deeply involved in reconciling completed Local Participation Agreements (LPA), recording adjusting journal entries and/or requesting billings or payments.

Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at$67,314.00but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

Location:

This position is located in INDOT's Central Office, Indianapolis.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Analyzebusiness processes, business rules, methods of data acquisition and data application for advancement of business practices, operational performance enhancement and resource allocation.
  • Presideover methodic, non-routine examinations of office specific data through advanced analysis routines, queries, and scripts.
  • Presentthe findings/recommendations through the development of custom reports, charts and maps.
  • Workwith Information Technology on the administration of analysis packages including data loading/unloading, error message interpretation, SQL statement development, script updating, mass editing of datasets and software database performance analysis.
  • Manageall the activities of subordinates including interviewing/selecting applications, assigning work, scheduling training, evaluating, and administering disciplinary action.
  • Investigatenew/existing technologies and business practices for practical and feasible implementation into divisional workflow and work with Information Technology for implementation.
  • Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
  • Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment:

  • Broad knowledge of operational, mathematical, analytical and/or statistical research techniques.
  • Broad knowledge of multiple regression or multivariate analysis, measurement and testing, and interview methods and questionnaire design.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate technical needs.
  • Ability to understand and comprehendinstructions dealing with technical and abstract theories.
  • Ability to determine proper research methods to use, collect appropriate data and draw conclusions.
  • Extensive knowledge of the agency mission and administrative policies.
