The mission of the Dental Assistant is to help facilitate patient understanding of the treatment needed as well assisting the doctor with chair side dental procedures. The dental assistant is accountable for creating a relationship with patients, assisting the doctor to increase doctor production. The dental assistant must be knowledgeable about dentistry and be able to work with the doctor in a wider variety of dental procedures.Key Performance IndicatorsDoctor production/Hygiene Production Same day procedures Key ResponsibilitiesSeating patient and provide patient comfortUpdating health histories and taking vital signsBe completely prepared for procedure prior to the dentist coming in treatment roomAssisting chair side with dentist with a wide variety of proceduresTaking x-raysTaking impressions, pouring up impressions and lab workSome independent work with patients (seating crowns, adjusting dentures, applying fluoride, and more) within the assistant's scope of practiceOrdering and putting supplies away.
