Position Details
The position will have primary focus on the preparation, review, negotiation, and execution of the broad range of contracts required to support the EPC Services requirements of utility-scale renewable projects, while also providing post award contract management though the execution phase of projects as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Implementation of Strategies at Project/regional level
- Conduct Request for Proposals, evaluate bids, in accordance to the Savion Processes and best practices
- Contractor/Vendor Management and engagement across project specific efforts including preparation, review, negotiation, and execution of the broad range of contracts required to support the delivery of utility scale projects
- Ensure delivery & effectively manage contracts while continuously drive value improvement targets
- Ensure Supply Chain Strategy supports Goal Zero Aspiration through implementation of robust Contractor Safety Management practices and alignment to Shell’s personal and process safety Goal Zero focus areas
- Implementation of Contractor HSSE practices in close liaison with Business Contract Managers and Owners
- Proactively identify & understand commercial/procurement needs from internal stakeholders and collaboratively propose competitive solutions. This may involve constructively challenging the Business Demand &/or Procurement Practices in order to drive value and efficiency for the organization.
- Manage Supplier Relationship: effectively and collaboratively drive continuous performance improvement via relevant contract key metrics (Eg: HSSE, Operations, Cost). This would involve constructively challenging the Contractors in terms of the contract delivery and performance as well.
- Connect across the Procurement EPC equipment team, also align within greater CP organization within Shell
- Prepares and presents project recommendations with clear justifications to management and leadership teams
- Builds effective working relationships with others and makes a constructive contribution within immediate team
- Ensure application of the Savion business and Procurement process, using commercial judgement, common sense and a simplification mind-set, understanding the difference between non-negotiable compliance elements (Safety, E&C, Code of Conduct, Law) and CP operating practices, while always keeping the Savion business value in focus
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
A Contracts & Procurement (CP) professional with commercial experience, high capacity and a strong performance history is required. The individual is expected to be well-versed in project CP, as this role will deliver hands-on CP support to projects (e.g. run EPC Services contracting activities, supporting Equipment OEM, etc.)
- Commercial minded to help identify and mature opportunities, as well as win and deliver projects within budget and on schedule
- Passionate about the energy transition and Savion’s role in it
- A degree level (Business/Engineering) or proven experience within CP, Renewables sector
- Must be self-motivated with an ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Flexible and driven individual
- Experience with management of performance and outcome-based contracts (i.e., creative commercial schemes, incentive schemes, performance guarantees)
- CP experience in New Business Development, M&A is a plus
- Familiarity with solar, battery technology, concepts and materials and technology is a plus
- Understanding of the complex US political and regulatory framework and opportunities
- Ability to cope with complexity & uncertainty and proven adaptability
- Good understanding of strategic, technical, legal, finance, taxation and commercial issues
- Strong engagement skills with suppliers, customers, partners, project directors, asset managers, and functional SMEs, etc.
- Preference for applicants with an understanding of project management and services functions (planning, quantity surveying, estimating, scheduling and cost control)
- Uncompromising on HSSE, ethics & compliance is a ‘must have’ in all CP
- Collaborates and integrates within CP and with business, enterprise first
- Commercial acumen (e.g., contract management, contractor performance management, negotiations).
- Virtual working experience is a plus
Internal and External Relationships
Manage the execution of the complete Category Management & Contracting Process (CMCP) including Contract Strategy, Tactics and Contract Management activities for the assigned contract portfolio and collaborate with:
- Internal stakeholders in development and execution of procurement strategies driving towards value maximization. [Pre-award Phase]
- Internal & External Stakeholders in ensuring delivery of maximum value via each of the awarded contract/commercial deal. [Post-award Phase]
- Due to the fluid and fast-moving pace of the EPC teams, the successful candidate is expected to be flexible in also supporting multiple Projects and Contracts.
Minimum Criterion (Mandatory)
- At least 6 years of experience in Project Procurement, or a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication Studies, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- Renewable Energy experience
- Relevant Procurement / Contract administration experience
- IT literate with the ability to operate MS office systems and other software
