Since 2008, FastModel Sports has been the industry leader in building game-changing sports software and data solutions for the NBA, NHL, NCAA, and thousands of international, high school and club coaches around the globe.

We continue to expand our sport and geographic footprint and develop our tools that let teams efficiently scout, prepare for practices and games, design plays, recruit and manage their roster. As we do so, were building AI and analytics capabilities into our software to further streamline processes and ultimately help teams win more games.

We are looking for a dynamic contributor to the FastModel core development team. An ideal candidate enjoys building innovative software and solutions designed for scale, which will contribute to the next generation of products aimed at furthering support of sports across athletic departments worldwide. Work with us to create game-changing products leveraging deep learning and advanced AI analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and Implement web-based user-facing features and interfaces
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Backend Engineers to plan, design and implement new features
  • Combine the art of design with the art of programming
  • Identify, Propose and Test improvements to the existing infrastructure for maintainability and scalability and to accelerate functionality and performance
  • Adhere to current development processes
  • Task breakdown & estimation, Code Reviews, Unit Testing, Version Control
  • Work on full execution cycles from scoping to implementation within realistically aggressive time frames as needed within a startup-like environment

Competencies

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of complex, scalable frontend development experience utilizing modern web technologies (JavaScript/ES5/ES2015, React, Redux, CSS/SCSS, HTML, JSX, JSON, RESTful APIs, Service Workers)
  • Strong Testing Background
  • Experience working with specifications and designs from product management and UX/UI design groups
  • Proven track record of excellent coding skills to write reliable / clean and maintainable software
  • Excellent understanding of algorithms, data structures, browser optimization techniques, and object-oriented programming
  • Experience in the nuances of cross-browser development including Chrome, Safari, and Edge
  • Start-up-comfort: can wear many hats in a fast-paced environment, willing and eager to learn and design new technologies; must be flexible in approach
  • Structured thinker, effective communicator, excellent programming and analytic skills
  • Ability to contribute to design dialogues as well as initiate questions to achieve clarity when needed
  • Highly self-motivated, proactive, hardworking innovator with a team-first attitude
  • Committed to the sometimes-extended hours required in a high-growth environment
