POSITION: Part-Time Microfilm Deputy
DEPARTMENT: Microfilm/Clerk
WORK SCHEDULE: M-F MAXIMUM OF 29 hours
JOB CATEGORY: Part-Time
STATUS: Part-Time
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
HOURLY RATE: $19.00

Incumbent serves as Part-Time Deputy Clerk for the Microfilm Department, responsible for scanning/microfilming court and other County documents and assisting the public in retrieving documents.
DUTIES:
Digitally/Scans/Microfilms various court documents/records according to statutory guidelines, including preparing and scanning/filming documents using spreadsheet and word processing software to prepare beginning and ending targets, inspecting/verifying authenticity of documents on scan and developed film.
Removes exposed film rolls from camera, and indexes and labels in preparation for off-site development.
Scans documents, inspects them page by page for accuracy and exports them to the proper directory on the Server.
Assists customers, including answering questions, and locating, retrieving, and copying scanned/microfilmed documents using court software to obtain cause and microfilm roll numbers. Retrieves scanned/microfilmed documents for redocketing, and for scanning/microfilming add-on documents.
Answers telephone, determining purpose of call, providing information, forwarding to appropriate personnel, or taking messages.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
I. JOB REQUIREMENTS AND DIFFICULTY OF WORK:
High school diploma or GED.
Working knowledge of standard office policies and procedures, state scanning/microfilming guidelines, and relevant legal terminology and court procedures, and ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated tasks.
Ability to properly operate a variety of standard office equipment, including Scanner computer, printer, telephone, copier, fax machine, microfilm reader and camera.
Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to effectively communicate orally with co-workers, other County departments, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions/directions, and appropriately respond to constructive criticism.
Ability to comply with all employer/department personnel policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.
Ability to work alone and with others in a team environment with minimum supervision, and maintain appropriate, respectful interrelationships with co-workers.
Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of department information/records according to state requirements.
II. RESPONSIBILITY:
Incumbent performs standard, recurring duties according to well-established department policies and procedures and state code. Incumbent receives indirect or occasional supervision, with priorities primarily determined by service needs of the public. Errors in incumbent's work are usually prevented through procedural safeguards and complete prior instructions from supervisor, and are detected through proofreading. Undetected errors may result in loss of time for correction, damage to equipment, loss of money to department, and/or inconvenience to the agencies or the public.
III. PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
Incumbent maintains frequent contact with co-workers, other County departments, and the public for purposes of exchanging information.
Incumbent reports directly to The Clerk and/or Microfilm Supervisor.
IV. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Incumbent performs duties in a standard office environment, involving sitting for long periods, sitting and walking at will, walking/standing for long periods, hearing communication, speaking clearly, close vision, keyboarding, reaching, bending, handling/grasping/fingering objects. Crouching/kneeling, lifting/carrying objects weighing under 25 pounds, and working in noisy, confined, and occasionally dark areas.
