Days Per Year: 226 Min: $106,871 Mid: $128,761 JOB TITLE: Executive Director – Student Assessment, Research, and Accountability REPORTS TO: Chief of Academics and School Leadership WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt PAY GRADE : AI 7 PRIMARY PURPOSE : The Executive Director of Student Assessment, Research, and Accountability is responsible for overseeing and directing all activities related to student assessment, research, and accountability within the district. This role integrates the management of district-wide assessment systems with research and accountability functions, ensuring alignment with federal, state, and local regulations. The Executive Director will act as the District Testing Coordinator, drive data-driven decision-making, and support the district’s mission of continuous improvement and student success. The Executive Director of School Improvement and Support must act with integrity, support organizational goals, demonstrate the ability to inspire, grow and motivate others, utilize feedback, drive for results and commit to championing the needs of the students, employees and overall District. QUALIFICATIONS : Required : Master’s degree from an accredited institution Minimum seven years of experience in research, accountability, education administration, or a related field, including a minimum of five years in a leadership or supervisory role. Preferred : Experience with district-level assessment Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS : Extensive knowledge of Texas and Federal Accountability Systems, Texas Assessment System, and other state and federal accountability systems. Detailed knowledge of district testing programs and reporting tools e.g., NWEA MAP, College Board, AVANT, Test Hound, Eduphoria, Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE), the Centralized Reporting System (CRS), and the Test Delivery System (TDS). Expertise in research methods, data analysis, and statistical techniques. Ability to lead, supervise, and evaluate comprehensive district-wide assessment systems and research initiatives. Strong technology skills supporting educational research, testing, and reporting. Proficiency in curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Exceptional written and verbal communication/presentation skills. Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to interpret and implement policies, develop short- and long-term plans, and drive improvements. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES : Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Student Assessment, Research, and Accountability departments. Oversee and supervise the Campus Testing Coordinators and Coordinators for State and Local Assessment. Manage the professional development, evaluation, and coordination of district-wide assessment programs and research initiatives. Assessment and Testing: Serve as the District Testing Coordinator, ensuring compliance with all Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements and managing state and local assessments. Oversee the planning, administration, and reporting of local, state, and national assessments. Ensure the accuracy of test documents, accommodations, and the administration of assessments. Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze data trends and effectiveness of district testing and accountability initiatives. Produce, interpret, and summarize data to support district planning, policy formation, and decision-making. Oversee the preparation and submission of essential state and federal data reports. Research and Accountability: Direct district activities associated with accountability, research, and testing, focusing on data quality and continuous improvement. Coordinate and manage the Data Validation Monitoring process. Facilitate school improvement efforts and support campus administrators in enhancing student success and closing the achievement gap. Policy and Compliance: Interpret and apply federal and state laws, State Board of Education Rules, and local Board policies. Monitor and communicate changes in policies and ensure their implementation across the district. Remain current in research and best practices in educational assessment and accountability. Stakeholder Communication: Advise and confer with the Superintendent, district administrators, school board, and external organizations on policy issues, official documents, and reports. Facilitate the communication of federal and state accountability reports and requirements. Additional Duties: Lead specific components of the district’s Five-Year Strategic Plan. Provide stakeholders with access to relevant research and data analysis. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee. WORKING CONDITIONS : The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. This position will also require both traveling within the district and statewide. The position may require occasional evening and weekend work. Mental demands: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data; ability to interpret the Texas Education Code and district board policy; ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory of instructional programs; ability to be effective in both oral and written communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
