Analyst, Joint National Training Capability (JNTC)

Suffolk, VA

Provides analysis and advice on strategic, operational, and tactical assessments. The Analyst will conduct analyses and studies, needs assessments, requirements analysis definitions and will work a broad spectrum of tasks requiring analytical skills in a variety of areas of planning, research science, military, wargaming, law or business training, and military intelligence capabilities. Analysts provide reliable, consistent advice and thought-provoking recommendations to various audiences in training and real-world events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze, develop, validate, and document exercise design products for the training audience to meet current training objectives for service specific, joint, and combined exercises across the Range of Military Operations (ROMO).
  • Provide analysis of data and talking point for the Conduct of AARs/OIL for command element, GCE, regiment, Battalion HQ, EXCON/HICON or Joint staff equivalent.
  • Provide analysis of exercise data and information to assist in development of After-Action Reviews (AAR)/Observations, Insights, and Lessons (OIL) to the training audience and Joint Staff for use in best practices, lessons learned and Trends Reinforcement Reversal Process.
  • Provide experience in applying research and foundational knowledge to real world organizational, leadership and education issues, culture, strategic communications, design theory, and research ISO JNTC prepotency role within the learning enterprise.
  • Provide advice and feedback for improvement strategies to Commanders and staff during exercises JNTC leads or participates in, and maneuver warfare mentorship during formal learning programs.
  • Tactical and operational planning at the conceptual, functional, and detailed levels for service and functional component organizations as well as headquarter, joint headquarters, organizations in area of emphasis.
  • Assist with providing data point and analytics for briefings for exercise participants prior to the commencement of the exercise and throughout the exercise as needed to support the flow of the exercise.
  • Submit key insights, lessons learned, and best practices to the Trends Reversal, Reinforcement Program manager via established formats and procedures following each exercise.
  • Research up to current TS/SCI level information on identified threat orders of battle, up to the combined arms army level, and their associated tactics, capabilities, vulnerabilities, and intentions across the range of military operations.
  • Provide support for formal learning programs and Joint Command Battle Staff Training.
EDUCATION
  • Career level school at the appropriate level.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
  • Graduate from a military Service or Joint War College with a minimum of 15 years' experience.
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in analytical techniques in conducting strategic resource evaluation and analysis of projects, programs, and other initiatives critical to Service and joint training.
  • Specialized experience in wargaming, and military doctrine.
  • Required to handle multiple assignments involving research, data collection, data analysis, planning, and evaluation of one or more alternative technical approaches.
CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of military doctrine, tactics, and command philosophy and relationships at the Joint operational command level.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and/or SharePoint.
  • Provides exercise design expertise to all areas of the JNTC program.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
  • Occasional travel CONUS/OCONUS may be required.
  • Passport Required.
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company's auto insurance provider.
