Senior Media Specialist-HSO Public Affairs-Mount Sinai Hospital-Full Time-Days
Position Summary:
The Senior Media Specialist is a marketing professional who creates narratives that elevated our brand. Individual will contribute to existing PR efforts, while assisting with the development of new initiatives. This individual has prior experience with a wide range of media and public relations functions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct proactive and reactive press and media relations for health system service lines, including Endocrinology, Diabetes & Bone Disease; Nutrition, and others as requested.
- Write scientific press releases and other media materials on institutional news, scientific research and consumer health topics.
- Coordinate with physicians and department leadership to identify media angles, such as compelling patient stories and breakthrough research.
- Secure placement for medical and technology stories in key national print, broadcast and digital news outlets.
- Responsible for developing relationships with key media.
- Serve as an on-call press officer on rotating schedule to assist in emergencies that require communications support.
- Press team liaison with web postings ? post all press releases to the newsroom & update carousels with top news items.
- Build targeted media lists for pitches based on thorough research via Muck Rack or Cisions Communications Cloud.
- Build Analytics report via Google Analytics and Cision Communications Cloud to show the earned media impact of the Press Teams placements.
- Develop and execute original shows and series from conception to release currently two podcast shows (one released bi-weekly & another in pre-production- monthly release in Fall 2020) ? Road to Resilience; Real, Smart People.
- Researching, reporting and planning structure of each show and episode ? guiding story, topic and guest selection.
- Lead in pre-interviewing and booking guests, writing and developing questions for interviews and host-prep, recording the interview, and making sure host is keeping on track during interview.
- Cut tape and write scripts, assemble episodes, and participate in team edits.
- Editing and Audio mixing of each episode up to final mix. (Adobe Audition, Descript, Pro Tools)
- Work with the host to produce stories in the field and plan new content.
- Project manage the two shows release schedule, aiding in creating content plans ? working with host to create a steady production cadence.
- Lead in all post-release promotional efforts ? manage collaboration throughout the production and release process with social media, creative, digital and marketing teams.
- Monitoring analytics and developing strategies for audience growth, including marketing, communications, and other outreach.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelors degree or greater preferred, or combination of applicable experience and education
- 3 or more years of related experience (i.e. Public Relations, Journalism, etc.).
- Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of traditional and digital media with established media relationships.
- Healthcare experience a plus.
