Job Title: Vice President, Accounting Reports to: Chief Financial Officer Industry: Real Estate Location: Los Angeles, CA Target Compensation Range: Base salary of $250,000 to $300,000 plus Bonus + Long Term Incentive Compensation The Company is a leading real estate investment firm ($4 Billion + in Assets under management) that specializes in the ownership and operation of large-scale apartment buildings. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a strong background in real estate accounting, a passion for mentorship and team development, and the ability to foster a collaborative and high-performing environment. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the accounting and financial reporting for the Company’s real estate portfolio, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards. Manage a team of accounting professionals, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and career development. Serve as a "team captain," taking pride in bringing out the best in your team, fostering a positive work environment, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Collaborate with other departments, including acquisitions, asset management, and property management, to ensure seamless integration of financial and operational data. Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and internal controls. Contribute to the annual budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with senior management to establish financial targets and monitor performance against them. Coordinate the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and addressing any issues that may arise. Maintain and optimize accounting systems and technology, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of financial information. Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management, including analysis of financial results, key performance indicators, and market trends. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus on real estate accounting and financial reporting. Proven experience managing teams of accounting professionals, with a track record of successful mentorship and staff development. In-depth knowledge of real estate accounting principles, GAAP, and applicable regulations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across all levels of the organization. Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and fostering a high-performance culture.
