As the OEM Engineer, you will interpret design criteria, analyze designs, determine data requirements, collect and analyze data against the requirements to support the full range of OEM products and attachments for construction, mining, utility, and agriculture industries. Lead a small team of engineers working on several OEM projects to include responsibility for directing, coordinating, and executing complex engineering projects on time and on budget. Ensure proper resources are utilized, internal processes are followed, and accurate project plans (including, but not limited to scope, schedule, cost, and performance) are established and followed to effectively and efficiently deliver machines to meet or exceed documented requirements.

What does the OEM Engineer do at SpecSys?
  • Ability to work in multiple CAD packages.
  • Interpret requirements into a detailed design and comprehensive project plan to include time and scope estimate as well as costing that meets performance and configuration specifications.
  • Perform concept feasibility analysis to evaluate key components, sub-system, and system technology options and trade-offs for modifying existing or designing new equipment.
  • Execute OEM projects to meet overall product market requirements, performance, cost, manufacturability and customer quality objectives.
  • Assist in developing overall performance acceptance criteria for product utilizing simulations tools to evaluate different concepts and recommend prime path.
  • Analyze and perform engineering calculations to verify compliance with design requirements. Document and communicate findings.
  • Document new, review and update modified model and drawing tolerances.
  • Specify and source purchase components to be used.
  • Generate and review Bill of Materials to reflect raw material assignments for in-house work or outsourcing.
  • Ensure DXF files are created and current by revision for burn tables.
  • Provide performance and status of projects in timely manner to management.
  • Monitor manufacturing progress against predetermined timeline milestones.
  • Act as an expert and subject matter expect regarding OEM engineering processes and practices.
  • Assess and evaluate competitor like models of equipment and reconcile our offering and design solution(s) in the market.
  • Execute cost reductions via product design changes, manufacturing direct labor reduction, and purchase component selections
  • Collaborate with internal service and sales staff, and dealer service staff, to resolve non-typical failures or product variances in the field.
How do we define a good candidate?
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills, attention to detail, creativity and ability to complete necessary job tasks in a professional manner
  • Familiarity with OEM equipment manufacturing and design processes required
  • Understanding of industry cost reduction processes and methodology
  • Understanding of OEM product configuration and product support documentation
  • Basic use of root cause analysis and problem solving methods
  • Strong focus and willingness to engage collaborative success of all projects
  • Basic project management experience
  • Ability to interact at a management level with Manufacturing Operations, Sales, and Quality
  • Knowledge in and experience with controls engineering and mobile hydraulics systems designs and analysis
  • BS or MS Degree in mechanical, electrical or agriculture engineering; or BS in Physics
  • 5+ Years of OEM experience
  • An MBA, MS in engineering, or other advance degree is appreciated and valued, but not required
