Description We are looking for passionate, talented, and inventive Principal Applied Scientist with a strong machine learning background to help build industry-leading Conversational AI Systems. As part of our team, you will work alongside internationally recognized experts to develop novel algorithms and modeling techniques to advance the state-of-the-art in human language technology. Your work will directly impact millions of our customers in the form of products and services that make use language technology. You will gain hands on experience with Amazons heterogeneous text, structured data sources, and large-scale computing resources to accelerate advances in language understanding. We are hiring in all areas of human language technology: NLU, Dialog Management, Conversational AI, LLMs and Generative AI. Basic Qualifications PhD and 8+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience 8+ years of building models for business application experience Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals in NLP and Applied Machine Learning. Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing Preferred Qualifications PhD and 8+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience 8+ years of building models for business application experience Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals in NLP and Applied Machine Learning. The base pay for this position ranges from $179,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $309,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
