Overview:

Wage range: Min: $34.68 Max: $53.45

Assesses, coordinates, and evaluates the skilled care/services being provided. Ensures provision of quality care for selected groups of patients through utilization of skilled care process, established standards of care, policies and procedures. He/she initiates the Plan of Care and necessary revisions and is responsible for the overall care of the patient. He/she initiates appropriate measures to prevent disease exacerbation, promote safety, makes referrals to rehabilitative services and coordinates all services provided by other disciplines/organizations. The Respiratory Therapist will provide supervision and instruction to the Delivery Coordinator(s) for initial and ongoing training in Oxygen Equipment use, set-up and maintenance. The DME RT is directly responsible to the Manager of DME.

Working Conditions:

Inside and outside the environment not always protected from the weather temperature changes. Inside environmental changes are mainly those inside patient homes. Those can include temperature variations, smoke, unclean homes, various sizes and types of pits, and structural faults/barriers. Subject to frequent exposure to infection, contagious disease, and hazardous materials and equipment; to combative patients; dysfunctional families and varying relationships; variable noise levels; subject to rapid pace, multiple stimuli, unpredictable environment, and critical situations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education:

Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training

Minimum Field-of-Expertise:

Graduate of accredited program in Respiratory Therapy.

Evidence of continuing education appropriate for skill level and area of practice.

Req. Certification/Registration:

State License/Certification. CPR certification; Maintains a valid Oregon's Driver's License and proof of current auto insurance.

Other:

Ability to provide care for the patient's age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial well-being. Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred. Ability to work with culturally diverse population.

Physical Demands/Traits:

Must be able to 1) perceive the nature of sounds by the ear; 2) express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word; 3) perceive characteristics of objects through the eyes; 4) extend arms and hands in any direction; 5) seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands; 6) pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers; 7) perceive such attributes of objects or materials as size, shape, temperature, or texture; and 8) stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Must be able to lift 50 pounds maximum; frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Continuous walking and standing. Must be able to identify, match, and distinguish colors. Rare lifting of greater than 100 pounds. Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
