They should have in-depth knowledge of Medicaid and its affiliated programs so we can best meet the needs of our patients. The Financial Counselor should strive to handle accounts in ways that best affect patient experience and minimize bad debts. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate. Supports and demonstrates Family Centered Care principles when interacting with patients, their families and with co-workers. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Excellent communication, listening and negotiating skills and customer relations principles. Strong written and verbal skills. Strong interpersonal human relations skills. Knowledge of billing and collection principles, including all applicable laws and regulations pertinent to healthcare collections is preferred.
