Full-Time, 40 Hours/Week Day Shift Onsite Summary: Under general supervision of the Administrative Director of Pathology and Laboratory Services, a Laboratory Manager is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the operation of a department or departments within the clinical laboratory which includes coordinating the activities of the technical and support staff on assigned shifts and maintaining regulatory compliance at all times. This position participates with the Administrative and Medical Directors in setting clinical policy, practices and procedures in the area of assignment. Responsibilities: 1. Adds value as a key member of management; understands the business, financials, industry, customers and strategy 2. Supervises employees, Supervisors, and Senior Technologists, provides direction, coaches, trains and develops, and manages performance to company goals and expectations 3. Ensures adequate staffing on all shifts 4. Prepares, manages, and adheres to department capital and operating budget to maintain expenditure controls. 5. Assesses the need for new or replacement technology; selects and coordinates the implementation of new technology when appropriate 6. Develops and implements standards, practices, and procedures for the operation, organization and management of the laboratory in accordance with established standards by regulating accrediting and governmental agencies 7. Works collaboratively with clinicians inside and outside the laboratory to ensure quality and cost-effective patient care with a high degree of patient and provider satisfaction 8. Establishes and maintains effective communication systems between providers, patient units and the laboratory for the efficient transfer of information, both urgent and standard, and on the ordering, status and result of tests 9. Provides training for new staff and continuing education for staff in order to keep them abreast of developments of new techniques or improvements in published or existing methods 10. Human Resources Management: Demonstrates the skills associated with efficient management of human resources. 11. General Management Responsibilities: Carries out the leadership and administrative responsibilities of management in an accurate, timely and results oriented manner 12. Other duties as required Other information: Technical Expertise 1. Thorough knowledge of the principles, techniques, procedures, instrumentation, quality control, quality assurance, and safety precautions in the field of medical technology is required 2. Skill in the operation, calibration and routine maintenance of modern laboratory equipment and instrumentation is required 3. Ability to provide technical consultation to physicians and nurses is required 4. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing is required 5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships is required 6. Experience working with all levels within an organization is required 7. Experience in healthcare is required 8. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required. 9. Experience with Soft Lab Software is preferred Education and Experience 1. Education: Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology / Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent degree at the bachelors level or higher is required 2. Certification: Certification as a MT / MLS from ASCP, NCCLS, or equivalent is required 3. Years of relevant experience: 3-5 years is preferred 4.
