Senior Tax Accountant

The Tax Senior will report directly to the Tax Director and will be responsible for the tax compliance process.
Position Title: Senior Tax Accountant
Job Summary: The Senior Tax Accountant specializing in real estate is responsible for overseeing and managing all tax-related matters for real estate investments, developments, or property management entities. They ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations while also identifying opportunities for tax optimization and savings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Planning and Compliance:
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the tax position of real estate entities.
- Prepare and review tax returns for partnerships, corporations, and individuals related to real estate activities.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on real estate investments.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare tax provisions and disclosures for financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to tax matters for internal and external stakeholders.
- Tax Analysis and Research:
- Conduct tax research to analyze complex transactions, structures, and issues related to real estate investments.
- Provide recommendations on tax-efficient structures and strategies for acquisitions, dispositions, and other real estate transactions.
- Evaluate tax implications of lease agreements, financing arrangements, and partnership agreements.
- Audit Support:
- Assist in responding to tax inquiries and audits from tax authorities.
- Coordinate with external auditors on tax-related matters during financial statement audits.
- Prepare and maintain documentation to support tax positions and filings.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients on tax matters related to their real estate investments.
- Communicate tax planning opportunities, risks, and strategies to clients in a clear and understandable manner.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and excellent service delivery.
Qualifications:
- BS Accounting, required
- 3+ years public accounting experience required
- Real estate taxation experience required
- CPA a plus
