Position Responsibilities:

  • Consistently prepares food meeting established standards for quality and quantity.
  • Prepares, seasons and cooks food following all established and special occasion requirements. Carves portions of food for individual servings.
  • Demonstrates a consistent knowledge of food service sanitation. Ensures the practice of accepted / required techniques in food handling, preparation, service and holding for patients, employees, physicians and guests.
  • Monitors all food items while on service line to ensure they adhere to established guidelines (i.e. monitors temperature and timing).
  • Review all menus for the day orders/cycle menu and set production schedules.
  • Follows proper cooking, storage, and food handling techniques
  • Takes accurate temperature reading of all food items on service line to ensure they adhere to established guidelines and documents per procedural guidelines.
  • Assures taste-test records are filled out each meal and problems are corrected.
  • Assists in completing and maintaining accurate documentation for required production and waste records on the proper forms or in CBORD
  • Prepares Keller VIP meals.
  • Ensures tray line/cafeteria serving lines are properly stocked and refilled as needed to ensure no interruption of tray assembly/customer service.
  • Maintains tray line/cafeteria hot food areas in a sanitary condition, following all standard procedures.
  • Reviews all catering event orders/cycle menu and set production schedules.
  • Demonstrates initiative when preparing new recipes and assists in catering functions and special events.
  • Assists in the supervision, along with the preparation and cooking of food for catered events.
  • Cleans station, equipment, and utensils at the end of each meal according to procedures.
  • May assist in storeroom duties such as receiving orders, rotating stock and taking inventory-keeping walk-ins clean.
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of safety in the work area by lifting correctly, wiping up spills, using carts to transport items and other steps to avoid accidents.
  • Contributes own ideas to improve services within the department.
  • Follows instructions and learns from the Executive Chef and Chief Cook.
  • Assists in the training of new Cooks to use proper recipe, portion control and cooking techniques and serve as a resource for problems and/or questions.
  • Assist in the training of new Cooks on use of all pieces of equipment prior to us, including ability to assemble, disassemble and properly clean each piece of equipment.
  • Recognizes and performs duties that need to be done, although not directly assigned
  • Adheres to uniform policy for assigned areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Food service experience in a hospital preferred
  • ServSafe Certification required
