The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant for Air Equipment Company, AEC's (Meriton portfolio company) commercial HVAC manufacturing representation firm in Louisville, KY. The role involves preparing and maintaining financial records to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization
- Reconciles customer and other financial accounts; assists in management of accounts receivable
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts, reviews monthly vendor statements
- Completes new vendor forms
- Assists in credit review for new customers by contacting credit references
- Assists with the purchasing and invoicing system
- Gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual financial statement review
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
- Maintains vehicle maintenance schedule for Service
- Assists with monthly closing procedures
- Prepares utilization reports for Service
- Assist with back-log maintenance
- Maintain inventory counts for stock drives
- Work directly with Service Dispatcher to keep Service Department billing current
- Special Projects as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Candidate must possess the below work skills:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to deal with high pressure situations
- Excellent PC skills in Microsoft Office, including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Familiarity with QuickBooks preferred
- Can-do attitude with strong ethical principles
- Associates degree in accounting required, Bachelors degree preferred
- Internship or professional accounting experience preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of GAAP, general financial accounting, and cost accounting
- Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality
- Familiarity with accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize efficiently
Other Skills & Abilities
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard and telephone, reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
