General Summary:

Sheppard Pratt's Office of Philanthropy seeks an intern to join our team to help us achieve our goals for the coming year.This opportunity will afford an intern to learn how a development shop works, develop specific skills that will be beneficial in most settings in their future employment, as well as undertake specific projects that they will be able to oversee and manage from start to finish, with guidance, support, and supervision.

Will follow a schedule of 10 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with hours between 8:30am and 5:00pm in-office at our Towson Offices. Internship will begin no later than October 1, 2024.

Will have a dual reporting relationship to the Director of Prospect Research and Data Analytics and the Director of Stewardship.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Work with the Director of Prospect Research and Data Analytics in support of our work on:
    1. Data analysis and data visualization
    2. Business analysis
    3. Data entry and database management
    4. Prospect research and building prospect and donor profiles
  2. Work with the Director of Stewardship and the Director of Development on:
    1. Creating a naming and recognition program for the system and our programs
    2. Supporting the stewardship program with
      1. Acknowledgements
      2. Impact reports
      3. Contributing to the SP magazine, Impact
    3. Support the Development Office overall, including but not limited to:
        1. Cultivation events
        2. Presentations
        3. Briefings
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  1. At least 1 year of college experience required, graduate student preferred.
  2. Academic areas of focus and/or classes in business, marketing, or non-profits preferred but not required.
  3. Proficiency and/or comfort level with data, analysis, database work.
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of products/systems.
  5. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Ability to work with clinicians and donors to gather information. Sensitivity to mental healthcare and patient privacy.
  7. Strong written and oral skills, and extraordinary attention to detail, grammar, and vocabulary.
  8. A natural curiosity about finding information and the persistence to follow up on leads.
