Description:Responsible and accountable for the daily operations of departments research program. Supervises the staff; coordinates quality and customer service activities; assists in the development and monitoring of the budget; leads new study initiatives including site feasibility questionnaires, visits, etc.; serves as a technical/clinical resource to team members; and conducts trials as needed to provide appropriate coverage and to mentor/assist staff. Ensurescompliance with all regulatory requirements and standards of good clinical practice related to the conduct of clinical research.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Plans, organizes and directs a comprehensive research program.2. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards of good clinical practice related to the conduct of clinical research. Interprets, develops and implements practices of all systems and functions to ensure continuous compliance.3. Develops department goals and objectives in collaboration with the Director, Research Operations.4. Manages distribution of work for the department including:a. Develops plans to ensure that appropriate human resources are in place to ensure the optimal daily functioning of the departmentb. Provides a timely assignment of resources to pre-study tasks and staffing of research studies, and monitoring coordinator schedules and effort5. Collects, reviews, analyzes, and interprets data from various sources to determine opportunities for improvement. Develops new policies and procedures as needed in conjunction with other Research Managers and Director, Research Operations.6. Monitors and communicates to all audiences (including frontline staff, leadership and executives) on the action plans in the department.7. Manages and provides leadership to the research department staff including direct supervisory responsibilities for clinical research staff.8. Oversees staff compliance with Piedmont research policies and procedures.9. Leads and/or manages cross departmental multi-disciplinary teams for implementation of key initiatives.10. Leads internal quality assessment activities. 11. Provides guidance and assistance in protocol execution, serving as back-up coordinator as needed to provide ongoing support for trials.Qualifications:MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:Bachelors degree in Science, Healthcare or Business Administration, or RN licensure.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Five (5) years clinical research experience. MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:None.ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:Prior leadership and budgeting experience preferred.
