As a Senior Analyst, you'll work on complex assignments and coordinate to collect, build and communicate data and recommendations to business partners. You will perform statistical analyses, prepare recommendations and monitor the company's competitive position. You'll maintain profiles of key competitors and partner with enterprise resources to obtain market, industry and consumer insights relative to business unit.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Retrieves and manipulates data, accountable for suitability and accuracy of data. Notes unreasonable results/non-optimal solutions and assists in resolution. Updates competitive intelligence tools and reports; may update and validate coding in various applications and/or vendor software. Conducts analyses by selecting appropriate data sources and methods, makes assumptions, recognizes considerations and develops recommendations. May be asked to investigate hypothesis through additional research and analysis. Works on special competitive intelligence assignments or projects as assigned. Expresses analytical findings and trains users on tools and processes. Builds and grows relationships with business partners. Presents ideas to audiences one-on-one or in small group settings. May make presentations to corporate and executive audiences. Participates in peer tech reviews. Reviews work of peers and has work reviewed by them. May assist with training new associates on standard work procedures and processes. Participates in ad hoc analyses; more complex work is reviewed. Under appropriate supervision, applies data mining techniques to discover new relationships in the data. Completes applicable testing of company and competitor rates. Provides mentorship and assistance to less experienced associates and individuals from other functional areas. Updates and maintains, as requested, competitive intelligence databases and systems, SAS coding and performs regular data mining exercises. Participates, as assigned, in interdisciplinary teams, typically with manager.

May Perform Other Responsibilities As Assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager/Director; this is an individual contributor role.

Typical Skills And Experiences

Education: Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, computer science, business, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, management information systems or related field with a strong quantitative orientation preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: SAS certification a plus. Insurance licenses or designations such as CPCU, ARM, CLU, ChFC, FLMI, CFP, NASD, etc. also are a plus.

Experience: Typically, three to five years or more of demonstrated experience in a business unit (e.g., pricing, actuarial, product) or combined experience and educational equivalent. Programming experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of mathematics, statistics and/or probability principles. Proven work product accuracy and timeliness. Effective verbal/written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to comprehend and analyze competitive intelligence data. Proven ability to think logically and make observations or recommendations based on data. Ability to effectively use database software which may include SAS, SQL or other applications.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the Product/Pricing Officer/Executive and Human Resources.
