About our Company:

Life gathers around water in Texas, and Hotel Magdalena honors our spring-fed culture and the community that grows near it. The design of the 89-room hotel honors the local lake house ethos of the 1970s, situated amongst rolling grounds and natural beauty inspired by Texas. The Magdalena is home to a restaurant and poolside bar, and several other spaces for hosting events and hanging out. The hotel is located on Music Lane just off South Congress.

Hotel Magdalena is proud to be a part of Bunkhouse, which is a hospitality company created by hotelier Liz Lambert that believes in inspired design, connection to place and the value of community. Bunkhouse has designed and developed a celebrated portfolio of hospitality projects including Hotel San Jos, Hotel Saint Cecilia, Austin Motel, and Jos Coffee in Austin, Hotel Havana and Ocho in San Antonio, El Cosmico in Marfa, Texas, The Phoenix in San Francisco, California, and Hotel San Cristobal in Baja, Mexico.

We're looking for someone with:

* High School diploma or general education degree (GED). College Degree preferred

* Two (2) years related experience in hospitality or service industry

* Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and sister property staff

* Ability to create documents in Excel and Word

* Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e. Property Management System and Point of Sale)

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

* Compile and balance cash receipts at the end of the day or shift

* Resolve customer complaints regarding food service

* Train and supervise workers in food preparation, and in service, sanitation and safety procedures

* Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure efficient service and conformance to standards

* Schedule staff hours and assign duties, responsibilities and work stations in accordance with work requirements

* Ensure guests receive indulgent service by maintaining a properly staffed restaurant

* Monitor employee and patron activities to ensure liquor regulations are obeyed

* Demonstrates a working understanding of labor cost control through effective scheduling and proactive management

* Establish cost improvement objectives and implements action plans

* Follow inventory standards and procedures to consistently conduct an accurate inventory

* Test cooked food by tasting and smelling it to ensure palatability and flavor conformity

* Perform personnel actions such as hiring and firing staff and consulting with other managers as necessary

* Ensure staff has a complete understanding of their job requirements and sufficient training before holding them accountable for results

* Maintain awareness of documentation needed and retained in employee files

* Order and purchase equipment and supplies and ensure quality and timely delivery of services

* Analyze operational problems, such as theft and wastage, and establish procedures to alleviate these problems

* Monitor compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and serving, and building maintenance in lodging and dining facilities
