ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

Position-Specific Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities:
o Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the provider.
o Record patients' past medical history, vaccine status, vital statistics, and medication reconciliation.
o Maintains compliance within department, clinic and state and federal regulations and policies.
o Working knowledge of phone: receive, greet, direct by phone. Take messages and document in patient's record.
o Able to properly care for instruments i.e. cleaning, packaging, sterilizing (where sterilization equipment is available).
o Participates in mandatory in-services and attends staff meetings.
o Follows policies and procedures.
o Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness and participates in drills.
o Respects the confidentiality of patient records, and uses complete discretion when discussing patient information in accordance to HIPAA.
o Utilizes all department forms and documents in EMRs appropriately.
o Able to identify victims and the process for reporting abuse.
o Collect, label, and transport all specimens appropriately.
o Demonstrates proper techniques when setting up for procedures.
o Demonstrates knowledge of emergency and routine equipment and procedures.
o Collaborates with patient care planning. Actively participates in education specific to patient diagnosis and needs.
o Assists providers with special tests and procedures.
o Acts as a resource person to other staff members.
o Positive and supportive team member to staff members and other departments within the organization.
o Participates in process improvement teams or in interdepartmental efforts.
o Able to assess every patient for safety, medication dosage appropriateness and other needs.
o Act as a liaison between patients, families, providers and staff.
o Complete workload as assigned.
o Accurately administers medication, performs treatment in accordance of standards of care. Translates medications into pediatric doses and use proper equipment for patient's size and age.
o Performs other duties as assigned.
o Floats to other clinical departments as assigned.

o Establishes and maintains effective verbal and written communication and good working relationships with all patients, staff, and vendors.
o Adheres to MRH attire/dress code per policies and procedures.
o Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain a steady level of productivity; self-motivated; and manages activity and time.
o Completes annual education, training, in-service, and licensure/certification requirements; and attends departmental and organizational staff meetings or reads meeting minutes.
o Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
o Reports to work on time as scheduled; completes work within designated timeframes.
o Actively participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
o Strives to uphold regulatory requirements to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state, and federal regulations and policies.
o Follows policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management to ensure a safe environment for patients, the public, and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Special Qualifications or Training:
o Breath Alcohol testing and Drug screen testing requires special training only personnel who have completed
training shall perform these procedures.

Minimum Requirements:
o Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions with a valid driver's license).
o Must be able to legally work in the United States.
o Must be able to pass a background check.
o Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
o Must complete employee health meeting.

Required Education/Licensure/Certification:
o High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
o Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Course.
o Must be Registered or Certified.
o Current BLS certification (or must be obtained within 90 days).

Experience:
o Up to one-year experience with patients in a clinic setting preferred.

Position Classification:Non-exempt

Compensation Range:$18.03 - $23.77
