CIS Secure is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, troubleshoot and document original and modification designs on OEM electronic equipment. This individual will work with product design, test lab, production, presales support and product management to define and produce electrical designs on products using circuit design and wiring disciplines. You will be front and center and your contributions will help in the design of the next generation of secure communications for our national defense.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Designs and develops solutions to modify OEM equipment for the secure computing marketplace in order to meet essential EMI requirements in accordance with the product development lifecycle.

Develops mechanical and electromechanical products by studying system requirements, conducting trade studies, performing engineering analyses, designing components using solid mechanical engineering principles, managing the integration and test of prototypes, and supporting production.

Ensures that assigned products are designed and developed in a manner that meets or exceeds system requirements in a creative and efficient manner in order to maintain competitive edge in marketplace.

Utilizes concurrent engineering practices, such as, design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for cost (DFC) in order to improve the overall design quality and profitability working in a cross function team of engineers.

Designs quality mechanical components and assemblies, using 3D modeling techniques, in a proficient manner in order to maintain schedule objectives.

Generates necessary documentation packages (specifications, drawings, BOMs, etc.) to facilitate accurate and quality production builds.

Supports Manufacturing by developing the appropriate processes, tools, fixtures, and equipment to improve production and increase quality.

Conducts thorough root cause analyses to evaluate issues in order to implement corrective actions and resolutions in a timely manner.

Works effectively with other department functions, specifically Purchasing, Production and Quality, to ensure a smooth transition from product design to production.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops or training courses, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a US person as defined by the US regulations:

Any individual who is granted U.S. citizenship

Any individual who is granted U.S. permanent residence (i.e., a "Green Card" holder)

Any individual who is granted status as a "protected person"

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and work experience in the field. Degree is highly preferred.

Minimum of five years of relevant work experience designing and developing products in a medium to high level production rate.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent understanding in the design of electronics packaged products meeting either commercial or military level requirements including EMI.

Proficiency with SolidWorks or other comparable 3D parametric software.

Proficiency in the use of product data management (PDM) software to manage and control data items.

Familiarity with ERP/MRP software. M1 software preferred.

Ability to conduct thermal or stress analyses using solid mechanical engineering principles or software analysis tools.

Proven ability to identify, analyze, and provide successful solutions to engineering problems.

Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced production environment to meet schedule commitments in accordance with the product development lifecycle.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute in a team first environment.

Excellent written and oral communication skills for interaction with staff and customers.

Effective presentation skills and ability to professionally respond to questions and comments.
